ABOUT US HISTORY OF PERIGON
Our story started in the 1960s with a Single-Resident Occupancy hotel in The City of San Francisco where several brothers began their American Dream. From there, the family experienced owning and operating several motels in the Central Valley City of Fresno. These experiences bridged the gap between knowledge and practice and provided a golden opportunity to own the multiple types of hospitality businesses we manage today.

We formally started our journey in 1998 with the idea to serve and provide lodging based on family values and excellence in hospitality. But our story goes back much further than that. Born out of a family of hoteliers, Perigon Hospitality captures the entrepreneurial spirit and experience of a pioneering family in the hotel industry for over 75 years.

A Family of Professional Hoteliers Lead Our Team
The first generation, Ray and Harry Patel, and their brothers–nephews of the very first Gujarati hotelier, Nanalal Patel, toiled tirelessly since they were teenagers growing up in San Francisco to establish their small portfolio of hotels with Single Resident Occupancy (SRO) hotels in South of Market and The Mission.
Establishing a beachhead in the Mission District was fortuitous. According to Mahendra K. Doshi in Surat to San Francisco - How the Patels from Gujarat Established the Hotel Business in California 1942-1960: “The Mission District’s SROs of San Francisco contributed immensely towards the Patels’ connections and evolution of what has become their sheer domination in the U.S. hospitality’s mid-level landscape.”
Today this small yet strategically growing portfolio which still includes a SRO in The Mission District is managed by their children, led by Raj Patel, who founded the Management Company in 2008 to help formalize operations, add rigor to the day-to-day processes and professionalize services.
Joined by brother Roshan shortly thereafter, this second tandem of brothers worked to establish an Executive Team that brings decades of combined experience and expertise in the areas of marketing, operations, real estate, and positioning to ensure our clients are staged for long-term success.
In keeping with the family affair, sister--Krystal Patel joined the organization to lead our Human Resources and Accounting and to round out our tight-knit family-led management team.
